Fred
B. Goldberg graduated from the University of
Maryland and The John Marshall Law School of
Chicago, Il.
After
graduation he served as an Attorney-Advisor to
Esther Peterson, President Carter’s Special
Assistant
for Consumer Affairs where he initiated the
interagency litigation project, establishing a
consumer presence in Administrative cases across the
government. Thereafter, he served as General
Counsel to the District of Columbia Office of
Consumer Protection where he was instrumental in
closing down illegal auto repair shops, forcing
thousands of dollar s of refunds from Holiday Spa,
and establishing the D.C. Lemon Law. After leaving
government positions, Mr. Goldberg served as one of
the first Commissioners of the District of Columbia
Lemon Board.
Initially, Mr. Goldberg’s private law practice
continued his consumer protection focus. He
represented state and national consumer
organizations in legal and policy matters including
the National Association of State Utility Consumer
Advocates (NASUCA), AARP, the New York State
Consumer Protection Board, Maryland People’s
Counsel, the Florida Office of the Public Advocate
and the Ohio People’s Counsel.
After
starting a family, Mr. Goldberg decided to limit his
travel and evolved the practice into a more locally
based private legal practice with a focus on
personal injury and professional negligence. He now
handles more dental malpractice cases than any other
lawyer in the State of Maryland, and is just as
active in pursuing dental malpractice cases in the
District of Columbia.
He
also represents consumers in legal malpractice
actions against their former lawyers when it appears
that the lawyers' violation of the standard of care
led to adverse results.
He has
appeared before the following courts:
-
Superior Court of the District of Columbia
-
Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia
-
Circuit Courts of Maryland for Montgomery
County, Prince George’s County, Frederick
County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Howard
